A Possible Scenario

What happened to Zahra Baker?

She looks so sad.

This picture haunts me. She looks scared.

The murder and dismemberment of Zahra Baker has caused people to take sides for or against the two people who are the only apparent suspects. Most believe that Elisa Baker is beyond guilty. They believe she alone committed this atrocious and gruesome crime. They seem to believe Adam is a quiet, unintelligent man who was unaware of the things going on inside his own home. They feel his only crime was becoming entangled with Elisa.

One thing I've come to learn is that all crimes involve logic, even when that logic is twisted. It seems people are unable to come up with a plausible and logical reason for the fire the morning of Zahra's reported disappearance or for them reporting her missing at all that day. Nobody had seen Zahra in many weeks and it's unlikely that they'd have been caught anytime soon. So what's a reasonable explanation? I'd like to present you a scenario that most people will be opposed to and none have seemed to introduce into the discussion.

We've all seen ample evidence that Elisa Baker lies. Usually, it's a huge lie. She was a police officer. She wrote songs for Chris Daughtry. I'd like to assume, for the sake of this scenario, that Elisa has been telling the truth since her arrest for obstructing justice. Just bear with me. If she was going to lie, why hasn't she told some incredible stories? Why has her story lead to the discovery of Zahra's remains? I'm not saying everything that's coming out of her mouth is true, but we know some of it has to be true.

What if what Elisa wrote in that letter from jail to Gein, the murderabilia guy, was true and they really didn't kill Zahra? Now, you must understand that she may simply mean that they didn't shoot, stab or strangle her. She may not realize that starvation or lack of medical care or any other condition that may have lead to her death is still considered murder. She said he did something horrifying to Zahra after she died. She said she's afraid of Adam. Maybe she is.

Scenario:

Zahra has died. Adam, yes Adam, has dismembered her body. Elisa is now terrified at seeing this side of her new husband. She can't believe he's done this. She is wondering if she's going to be next. He's threatening her. He's threatened her kids and grandkids. She's told if she says a word to anyone, she's dead. He makes her get in the car while he drives Zahra's body to various locations to dispose of it because he knows if he leaves her home alone, she'll tell someone. She's upset and scared. They drive out to the country and Elisa sits in the car while he gets out to bury the body. She knows where she is. She once lived in that area. She knows there's no house nearby for her to run to without Adam catching her.

Days go by. She isn't allowed to leave the house now because Adam fears she'll turn him in. She's on the computer. She has to tell someone what has happened, so she logs into her chat site and sends her friend in the UK a message. She tells him that something horrific has happened and her life is in danger. The man on the other ends sends her money to get away. She tells her daughter she wants to leave the country. Things are bad and she doesn't know what to do. If she tells anyone, she fears for their safety. She knows what Adam is capable of doing to his own child, let alone hers.

Adam is asleep and she comes up with a plan. She sneaks out the back door and proceeds to dump gas on the vehicles and wood pile. She's going to start a fire. Surely the authorities will come and they'll discover that Zahra is missing and what Adam has done. How can she get them to check on Zahra? She decides to write a ransom note. Surely if a kidnapping is mentioned, they'll want to check on Zahra, right? But what if they don't? Adam will know she started the fire and wrote the note in order to expose his crime. She decides to write the note about the landlord's daughter. Makes sense, right? The kidnapper thought they lived there since it's their house. She also adds something inaccurate about the landlord's son for protection against Adam. If the plan fails, she can use that to convince him she didn't write the note. She can say she surely didn't write the note since she would have known better about the son. She tosses a match on the wood pile and goes back inside.

The dogs start barking and Adam gets out of bed. He wants to know what's going on. Elisa is standing in front of a window looking out. She says she doesn't know. She heard the dogs and just got up herself. There's a fire outside! He goes outside and she calls the fire department.

Once the fire department arrives and find the note, they either didn't think to ask Adam if they had a child or possibly Adam said the child was fine. He had just seen her inside the house. Somebody knows what was told to the fire fighters, but it hasn't been released as of yet. Somebody suggests calling the landlord and making sure his daughter is there and okay. Possibly this was Adam's idea to keep the firemen from wanting to pursue his own daughter's whereabouts inside the home. Of course, Adam recognizes the writing on the ransom note and realizes what's really going on. Elisa has started the fire in hopes of getting him caught.

After the firemen leave, Adam grabs Elisa by the throat and tells her he knows what she's done. He recognized her handwriting on that note and knows she tried to get him caught. He tells her she's finished. He warned her what would happen if she told on him.. They argue and fight for hours. He decides to call and report Zahra missing. He tells her he's going to implicate her by saying his daughter was kidnapped. It was her handwriting on that note and she was going to be in serious trouble. She screams at him that she'll tell everyone what he did. He doesn't care. He doesn't think anyone will believe her. None of her family has ever seen his temper or how he treated her and Zahra when they were all at home alone.

He walks to the phone and makes the call to the 911 operator. We all know what happened that day. Then when the police arrive to arrest Elisa on the obstruction of justice charge, the minute the cuffs are around her wrists, she's relieved. She knows he can no longer hurt her. She screams at him the entire walk to the police car that she's going to tell the police what he's done. He's going to pay and he'd better not touch any member of her family. She immediately tells the police that Zahra is dead and she needs an attorney. She very quickly tells the attorney what happened because she doesn't feel that she is guilty of anything. She wants the world to know what Adam has done.

Is this a possible scenario? Anyone else have a theory that involves Elisa NOT being the ring leader in this? Every other possibility has been talked to death.

  1. Seriously I think Adam couldn't kill or dismember his own daughter. I think she did it and he went along with it for some reason.

No death threats, please. I'm just trying to invite discussion of differing views. I sincerely believe both Adam and Elisa Baker are guilty!
